OSI Systems, a vertically-integrated provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, announced that its Security division, Rapiscan Systems, has received an $18 million order to provide Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems and its Secure 1000 people screening systems to support a U.S. Government agency.

“We are encouraged that customers continue to rely on our high tech screening solutions for cargo and personnel,” said OSI Systems CEO, Deepak Chopra. “In contrast to other cargo solutions that use a technology that does not see threats hidden near the center of packed cargo containers, our proprietary Eagle technology is capable of detecting threats hidden inside containers and vehicles and provides a detailed image highlighting the size and location of the potential threat.”

Rapiscan Systems offers a variety of cargo screening technologies in mobile, portal, gantry and fixed-site configurations through its Eagle high-energy X-ray product line. These products can inspect cargo and vehicles for contraband such as explosives, weapons and narcotics.

Used worldwide by aviation authorities, military organizations, homeland security, and police and correctional facilities, the Secure 1000 is the most widely deployed people screening solution. It has been approved by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and the UK Department for Transport and is being deployed at airports in the U.S
